Fit-Friendly Campus

Executive Summary

Hospital partners will help create a fit-friendly environment at DePauw, bringing in new ideas that help celebrate the university’s unique spirit and campus culture. By truly engraining a holistic approach to wellness into campus life, DePauw University will have the opportunity to set the bar as a fit-friendly collegiate organization.

Exercise Is Medicine(R) - On Campus

Exercise Is Medicine(R) – On Campus (EIMOC) is a global health initiative, managed by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), for colleges and universities to encourage physical activity as a vital sign of health. DePauw Health staff along with faculty and students have formed a leadership team to develop and improve programs and activities that will foster a culture of health and well-being.

Over the last year, the EIMOC team has been in action. Wellness walks with DePauw Health Medical Director, Dr. David Harsha, have been occurring monthly.  EIMOC student leader, Samantha Ostreicher, partnered with Mental Health America to host the Mind Your Health 5K at the DePauw Nature Park in October 2017, as well as brought to life a Campus Fitness Passport.

Plans for the 2018-2019 academic year are in process. Please check back for updates.
